Happy 4th of July everybody! For those of you looking forward to tonight's fireworks, you've already missed the greatest of them all. The space shuttle Discovery was launched today at 2:38pm to the rocket's red glare.
Commanded by Steven Lindsey, Discovery and its crew of seven astronauts roared from Launch Pad 39B to begin a 15,000-mph chase to rendezvous with the International Space Station, due in the late morning hours on thursday.
What a great 4th of July this has truly been.
